The writing was likely on the wall for Doan after Arizona did not include him on its protected players list. If the 40-year-old decides to continue his career, the Golden Knights could sign him, thereby designating Doan as their selection from the Coyotes. The winger has been with the Yotes since their inception, having played his first NHL season with the original Winnipeg Jets. At this point, one would imagine Doan would like the chance to suit up for a contender after playing in a mere 55 playoffs contests -- compared to 1540 regular-season outings.
