The officials, in an effort to prevent the game from devolving further, booted four Flames players immediately following the massive melee. That force the remaining players to be leaned on extensively and Wideman was one example of that. Of course, Calgary never needs an excuse to lean on the veteran defenseman, as they already ask him to log 24:59 minutes during an average game.
