Defenseman Brendan Smith will serve as a left winger on Tuesday. Detroit has been hit hard by injuries all season and at this point they have to resort to creative tactics. Smith has 15 points and 52 penalty minutes in 56 games this season. He hasn't served as a forward since he was about 16 and playing in AAA.
