David Backes played in the playoffs with a broken toe on his left foot. It was caused by a slap shot from teammate Alexander Steen late in the regular season. Backes did not suffer a concussion from the hit he received from Chicago defenseman Brent Seabrook in Game 2, but he did sustain a stiff neck.
