Darling stopped all 42 shots that he faced in Game 1 against the Predators on Wednesday night in the Blackhawks' 4-3 win in two overtimes as he came in relief for Corey Crawford. After the Blackhawks went down 3-0 after the first period, coach Joel Quenneville pulled Crawford and went to Darling in the Stanley Cup playoffs opening series. It was Darling's first appearance in a NHL playoff game and he was brilliant in keeping Nashville off the board. It was the first Blackhawks goalie in more than 70 years to win a playoff game in a first playoff appearance. While Darling was stellar in goal, the Blackhawks could go back to Crawford for Game 2 on Friday night. If they do go to Crawford in Game 2, Darling could be called on if Crawford comes out of the gate slowly again.
