Dan Boyle doesn't see that the length of a contract being an issue for the Players Association. In a conversation with David Pollak of the San Jose Mercury News a couple of months ago, Boyle said that if the NHL gave the players a fair share, he didn't see a problem with the union limiting contracts to five or six years. He backed off that statement slightly yesterday when he said: ƒ?oI donƒ?Tt recall somebody saying no. They (the owners) are saying five or six years, right? Maybe weƒ?Tre not OK with five, but maybe there is a number we can live with. Maybe itƒ?Ts seven. I donƒ?Tt know.ƒ?? He went on to say that he didn't think it was a deal breaker.
