Bertuzzi -- who underwent offseason back surgery -- may make his preseason debut versus the Penguins on Thursday, Ted Kulfan of The Detroit News reports.

Bertuzzi was originally expected to sit out the entire preseason in order to manage his recovery but it seems that plan may have changed. Even if he doesn't play in any exhibition contests, the winger is poised to be back in full force for Opening Night against the Lightning on Oct. 14.
