Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman said Walman, acquired from the Blues in a trade Monday, has a chance to become a regular for his new club, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.

Walman averaged only 13 minutes of ice time between 57 contests with the Blues, but the Wings aren't as formidable on the blue line as that Central Division club, so he could see an uptick in playing time now that he's swapped sweaters. Yzerman reportedly likes Walman because he "skates well, shoots the puck hard, (and is) competitive."
