Coach Dave Tippett is pleased with the drive of Mike Smith. Tippett benched Smith for a couple of games last week before starting him on Saturday and liked what he saw as the netminder refused to sulk and spent more time with goaltender coach Sean Burke. "It's the exact response we were hoping for," Tippett said. "He jumped in practice and got to work." It worked out well as Smith stopped 23 of 23 shots in a 3-1 win over the high flying Penguins Saturday. Smith is 19-15-9 this season with a 2.87 GAA and a .909 save percentage.
