Coach Bruce Boudreau said that Game 4 was the best time to start rookie goaltender John Gibson. Boudreau did not want to start Jonas Hiller in Game 4, have him struggle, and then force Gibson to start Game 5 with the Ducks down three games to one. So he started the rookie in Game 4 and watched him shutout the Kings to even the series at two. Gibson is most likely to start Game 5 on Tuesday. The Ducks became the first team since the 2008 Montreal Canadiens to start two rookies in net in the same series as both Gibson and Frederik Andersen are in their first season. Carey Price and Jaroslav Halak did the same for the Habs.
