Chychrun continues to turn heads in training camp. He recorded two PIM, three hits, and two blocked shots in a team-high 25:21 of ice time Wednesday, though the Coyotes lost to the Flames in overtime, 2-1.
EDGE Analysis
As noted by TSN's Bob McKenzie, Chychrun, the Coyotes' 16th overall pick in this year's draft, is drawing rave reviews ahead of the 2016-17 season. The burly rearguard has consistently garnered top-pairing minutes in exhibition while playing alongside Connor Murphy. Some scouts say he needs to improve his defense, but this latest report indicates that Chychrun is likely to make the Opening Night roster. Assuming that holds true, the highly touted prospect will be able to play up to nine regular-season games with the parent club before general manager John Chayka would have to decide whether he wants to activate the first year of Chychrun's contract or send him back to juniors. He's worth a speculative stash in redraft leagues and should already be highly owned in dynasty formats.
