Starting goaltender Ondrej Pavelec has a 3.45 GAA and .890 save percentage in 14 starts, so Mason has an opportunity to win the number one gig. Mason has had an up-and-down career with some great seasons as a starter and some significant disappointments. His 2010-11 campaign was the latter, with him posting a 3.39 GAA and .892 save percentage in 33 games.
