Chris Drury reportedly has a degenerative condition in his left knee that might prevent the team from buying out his contract.
Drury comes with a $7,050,000 annual cap hit. If the report is true, Drury might not be able to play next season because of the condition. If Drury is put on the long-term injury reserve during the preseason, then his cap hit will come off the books. However, the team can't put him on the list during the summer, which means it could be a factor when they're trying to sign free agents. Teams can exceed the cap by up to 10% during the off-season.
