Butler was waived by the Panthers on Sunday, Harvey Fialkov of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports. With Butler losing out on winning a spot on the Panthers' fourth-line, he'll likely clear waivers and report to AHL San Antonio. He compiled 22 goals and 25 assists in 69 AHL games last season.
