Budaj surrendered three goals on just 23 shots Wednesday in a 4-1 loss to San Jose. The fourth was an empty-netter.
EDGE Analysis
The Sharks got to Budaj early, blowing all three goals past him in the first period and ultimately ruining his opportunity to tie Carey Price for the NHL wins lead. The loss snapped a five-game winning streak for the 34-year-old, who allowed two goals or less during that span. Nonetheless, given his surprisingly solid performance this year -- that features a .915 save percentage and 2.09 GAA -- in lieu of Jonathan Quick (groin), he probably won't be turning the net over to backup Jeff Zatkoff anytime soon, except in back-to-back situations.
