Brian Campbell has played more sound defensively this season, but its come at the expense of offensive production. The veteran blueliner had 27 points, six power play goals and a -22 rating through 47 games last year. This year, he's got 21 points, two power play goals and an even rating through 50 games. Two possible factors are that last season his shooting percentage was incredibly higher than his career average, and this year Tom Gilbert is stepping up into a complementary scoring role for the Panthers' defense.
