Brendan Morrison hopes to return to playing in the NHL next year, but he isn't sure what's going to happen after a rough 2011-12 season. "This season was a long season as far as trying to get back to full health after knee surgery last year, but I feel good now," he said. "I'm going to prepare like I'm going to play and then we will have to make a decision later in the summer. I don't think anything is going to happen early in the summer, but I'm going to prepare." He was scratched in 21 of Chicago's final 31 regular season games and skated mostly on the fourth line when he did play. Morrison appeared in three playoff contests, but his arrival on the Blackhawks didn't go well after he struggled with Calgary prior to the move. In 39 games between both clubs, he ended up with four goals and seven assists.
