The hard-shooting defenseman isn't a consistent producer of offense (21 points in 59 games), but is a plus-player that plays over 20 minutes per game while bringing an intimidating physical presence. Thomas Hickey will surrender his spot on the Islander blueline to Boychuk on Thursday.
