Booth will sign a professional tryout agreement with the Red Wings, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Having spent the past two seasons in Russia's KHL, Booth, a Detroit native, returns home for a shot with the Original Six franchise. The 32-year-old has 502 NHL games under his belt, but he battled through recurring concussion injuries that threatened his career before managing to play in all 82 games for the Panthers in 2010-11. Even if Booth impresses the Wings and cracks the Opening Night roster, he shouldn't expect much in the way of compensation from a team that's currently over $3 million in the salary cap hole.
