Booth signed a professional tryout offer with the Panthers on Wednesday, Craig Davis of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
EDGE Analysis
A former 31-goal scorer for the Panthers in 2008-09, Booth shouldn't be counted on to rediscover his shooting touch in his return to South Florida. The 30-year-old saw his goal total drop to seven with the Leafs last season, his lowest total since making his NHL debut in 2006-07. With no guaranteed contract attached to his name, Booth will need to prove he's a superior bottom-six option compared with the likes of Vincent Trocheck, Rocco Grimaldi, and Quinton Howden, three young players who may or may not be ready for full-time NHL roles to open the season.
