Bernier signed a two-year, two-way contract Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Bernier spent the entire 2016-17 campaign in the minors as he failed to secure a call up during the season. At this point, the winger -- who was taken No. 16 overall in the 2003 draft -- will likely fill the role of seasoned veteran with Tigers as he helps to groom young players coming up the ranks. For his career, the 32-year-old logged 633 NHL games with 230 points and 300 PIM, but fantasy owners probably shouldn't expect too many appearances in a Islanders jersey next year.
