Barbashev was assigned to the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League on Thursday, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

This move was expected. The 20-year-old needs more development minutes after being held to mostly fourth-line duty with the Wolves last season. He should get a better opportunity this time around as the Blues will have more managerial input at the independently owned AHL franchise in 2016-17.
