Backstrom will get the start between the pipes on Thursday against the Blackhawks. Starting goalie Darcy Kuemper suffered a minor injury in practice on Wednesday, but it was apparently enough to hold him out of Thursday's contest so Backstrom will get the nod in his place. The 36-year-old is 5-3-3 with a 2.71 GAA and .896 save percentage, and should be in line to fill the starter's role for as long as Kuemper is kept out.
