Backstrom is missing Tuesday's game against the Flyers due to the flu, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. It's Backstrom's second tango with the flu in as many weeks, as it was a stomach bug that jeopardized his availability to play last Wednesday. He ended up being able to suit up for that contest, but wasn't so fortunate this time around, as Darcy Kuemper was granted the start after Backstrom fell ill during the afternoon. The Wild haven't relayed what kind of bug Backstrom is dealing with this time around, but given that five Wild defensemen have already been hit with the mumps this season, that virus is always a concern whenever one of the team's players is being afflicted by some type of illness.
