Backstrom (illness) was activated from injured reserve Wednesday, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Backstrom was able to get in a practice Tuesday, and seemed healthy enough for the Wild to bring him along for the trip to Columbus. He'll serve as the backup to Darcy Kuemper for Wednesday's game, but figures to make his next start over the weekend during the Wild's back-to-back set. John Curry was reassigned to AHL Iowa in a corresponding move.
