Backlund (abdomen) could return to action Wednesday against the Red Wings, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 reports. Backlund skated on the third line at Tuesday's practice and looked "pretty good," according to head coach Bob Hartley, so he is on the verge of playing for the first time since Oct. 28. Expect his status to be updated sometime prior to Wednesday's game.
