Tanev played through multiple injuries at the end of last year, including broken ribs and a torn pectoral muscle. He was paired with Nikita Zadorov at Thursday's practice. Tanev figures to play a highly defensive role in the Flames' top-four -- he'll be worth a look in formats that count blocked shots, but he shouldn't be expected to produce much more than 15 points even in a sizable role.
