Antero Niittymaki is still waiting for his opportunity to serve as the Sharks' starter or backup goaltender in a game. San Jose has played in six games since Niittymaki finished his conditioning stint on December 23rd. When asked if he was frustrated, Niittymaki didn't see the point of denying it. "Obviously, yeah. What can I say? Obviously, I want to play, but it doesn't look like I'm going to play any time soon," Niittymaki said. He hasn't been contacted about the possibility of being traded, but based on the Sharks actions so far, they're probably interested in parting ways with him. The Sharks are currently carrying three goaltenders, but Niittymaki or Thomas Greiss would have to be put on waivers before either one could be demoted.
