Antero Niittymaki has been placed on waivers by San Jose. He hasn't played yet this year after off-season hip surgery sidelined him for the beginning of the campaign. Niittymaki has been sent down to the minors on two conditioning stints, while Thomas Greiss has been utilized as the Sharks' backup goalie.
