Andrei Markov was obviously upset after Montreal's playoff exit Thursday night, but he also attempted to look on the bright side.
"It doesn't matter where you place in the regular season," said Markov. "When you don't get through the first round, everybody's disappointed. It's not easy, but at the same time, we have a good young group of guys who will improve next year, so we have a good future." The Canadiens won the Northeast Division this season after finishing with the worst record in the Eastern Conference a year ago. It wasn't a pretty end to the 2013 campaign, as they were quickly eliminated in five games by Ottawa, but Montreal still has plenty to proud of going into next season. Markov should also be pleased that he managed to appear in all 48 games during the regular season and all five matches in the playoffs after struggling with injuries the past three years.
