Allen is expected to remain with the Blues in 2016-17, keeping intact a timeshare with Brian Elliott, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
EDGE Analysis
Allen and Elliott were effective as a tandem in 2015-16, combining for 49 wins even though both tenders experienced significant injuries during the season. Allen, 25, is six years younger than Elliott and figures to be the goalie of the future for the Blues. He started 44 of 47 games this campaign -- not including five showings in the playoffs -- finishing with six shutouts and a .920 save percentage that ranked 24th in the league among 92 qualified goalies. Elliott stole the show for the majority of the playoffs, but they're expected to use training camp as the battleground for the No. 1 spot on the depth chart ahead of a new season.
