Alex Galchenyuk has carried a remarkable hot streak of 13 goals and 12 assists in his last nine OHL games with him into Team USA's selection camp for the fast-approaching World Junior Championship.
He had a slow start to the year with Sarnia and admitted that the NHL lockout was a distraction. However, he has definitely hit his stride since then and is currently second in league scoring with 61 points in only 33 games. Galchenyuk has been moved to the wing this season, so that Sting coach Jacques Beaulieu could play him alongside Charles Sarault on the top line and the decision has paid off for them both. Galchenyuk is free to take more shots and get chances from the wing, which has led to 27 goals this year, while Sarault has piled up 41 helpers. The Canadiens may try the 2012 draft's third overall selection on the wing when he gets his shot in the big league, but for now he's slated to headline a talented group of Americans in Ufa, Russia at the world juniors.
