After sitting out as a healthy scratch on Saturday, Daniel Carcillo was back in the Chicago Blackhawks' lineup on Tuesday.
The hardest thing for Carcillo has been being the tough-as-nails player the Hawks signed and one who hopes to chip in when playing with Marian Hossa and Patrick Kane on the second line, where he was again on Tuesday. Coach Joel Quenneville said he won't "measure [Carcillo's] game by offensive production," but by his intensity. After a good start, Carcillo admitted his play had "dipped a little bit." Before being scratched, he was held off the scoresheet in five consecutive games, his ice time significantly dropped and he was moved to the fourth line. "It's tough," Carcillo said. "For me to be effective, I have to play the same way every night and I got a little bit away from that. The biggest thing is being on the forecheck, being on the body and getting under people's skin. That comes with skating, working hard and getting those guys pucks and finishing my checks on the right players."
