Foligno was credited with a goal and two hits in the Wild's 3-2 shootout win over the Capitals on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Foligno was the beneficiary of one of the strangest goals of the season Saturday. Foligno was the last Wild player to touch the puck before a delayed penalty was called against Minnesota, which led to Washington's goaltender Zach Fucale being pulled from the net. Things began looking up for Foligno though when the Capitals' sent the puck all the way from behind the Wild net into their own, with the 30-year-old Foligno being swarmed by his teammates at center ice. After what must have been the most bizarre goal of the left winger's career, he now has 14 on the season, to go along with 8 assists. This marks a career best goal total for the former Buffalo Sabre, and it could not have come in a more interesting fashion.
