Goalie Start: Bryzgalov will make his Wild debut. dailyfaceoff.com Sun 3/9/14 7:56 PM

Bryzgalov is expected to make his Wild debut on Sunday when Minnesota faces the Blues. He was 5-8-5 with a 3.01 GAA and .908 SV% with Edmonton before being traded. While those numbers are far from pretty, he goes from a team who gave up the sixth most shots in the NHL (32.3) to the team who allows the sixth least shots (28.0). However, the matchup vs. St. Louis forces you to look at your other options.

ROMIE HITS THE POST: EDMONTON GOES ALL IN WITH SCRIVENS primepucks.com Thu 3/6/14 3:01 PM

Despite just acquiring him from Los Angeles on January 15 of this year, the Oilers appear to have gone all in with Ben Scrivens as their number one goaltender. They recently signed him to a 2 year $4.6 million contract.  27 year old Scrivens has only played in 58 games in the NHL, and he was a backup in LA, before being traded to Edmonton, but he seems to have convinced the team that he can be their guy in net.  They recently traded veteran goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov to Minnesota for a 4th round pick, and sent Devan Dubnyk to Nashville while they picked up Victor Fasth from Anaheim to be the back-up to Scrivens. Scrivens fantasy value goes up a lot if he stays the number one starter for Edmonton.  His numbers this year are very good with a 11-9-4 record a 2.02 GAA and a .938 SP with 4 shutouts.  He is not your traditional butterfly goaltender, but he is a real fighter and will challenge shooters. His .938 save percentage, by the way, is the best in the NHL right now.  Grab Scrivens right now if you can.

Trade: The Oilers have traded Ilya Bryzgalov to the Wild in exchang... dailyfaceoff.com Tue 3/4/14 2:56 PM

Bryzgalov has gone 5-8-5 with a 3.01 GAA and .908 SV% with the Oilers this season. The Wild looked golden in net earlier in the season, until Josh Harding started having multiple sclerosis and Niklas Backstrom having abdominal issues. Bryzgalov will likely become one of three goalies that the Wild will carry and finds himself behind the red-hot Darcy Kuemper.

Goalie Start: Bryzgalov starts the 'Battle of Alberta' on Saturday. dailyfaceoff.com Fri 2/28/14 2:56 PM

Bryzgalov allowed two goals on 24 shots in a loss to the Devils before the break. Since signing with the Oilers, Bryz has gone 5-8-4 with a 3.07 GAA and .907 SV%. His name has surfaced in trade rumours with the trade deadline inching closer, so Saturday could potentially be his last start as an Oiler. He is 2-3-1 at Rexall Place this season.

Goalie Start: Bryzgalov gets the start for the Oilers. dailyfaceoff.com Fri 2/7/14 2:56 PM

Bryzgalov allowed two goals on 44 shots in a win over the Sabres on Monday. It was his second straight win as he has stopped 67 of the last 71 shots (.944 SV%) that he has faced. With Ben Scrivens getting the W last night, Bryz will look to chalk up the Oilers sixth win in their last seven games.

Goalie Start: Bryzgalov starts for the Oilers. dailyfaceoff.com Mon 2/3/14 2:56 PM

Bryzgalov gave up two goals on 27 shots in a win over the Canucks last Monday. Ben Scrivens has played very well in his last three starts, so Bryz will need a good outing tonight in Buffalo to say in conversation as the Oilers number-1. The Sabres have lost eight of their last 10, so Bryzgalov should make for a great start.

DAILY PRIME - JANUARY 30, 2014: KING OF NEW YORK, STONEWALL SCRIVEN... primepucks.com Thu 1/30/14 8:30 AM

***TEAM RANKINGS have been updated------> It is safe to say that the King has returned. Henrik Lundqvist turned aside 30 of 31 SOG to improve his record over the last 10 games to 7-2-1 as he bested the NY Islanders 2-1 at Yankee Stadium last night. The Blueshirts are undefeated at The Stadium; having beaten their cross-river rivals, the New Jersey Devils, on Sunday.  Patience has paid off for fantasy owners who were scratching their heads pondering what to do with the elite goalie earlier in the season.  Those who held onto the King are puffing their chests as he is back in form...... More Fantasy Game Notes-The San Jose Sharks have gone 3-7-0 in their last ten games and three of those losses were by shutouts. Recently acquired Edmonton G Ben Scrivens took another bite out of the Sharks with a 3-0 victory on his home ice. Scrivens has been playing well since his acquisition from LA, and he should garner more starts going forward as the play of Ilya Bryzgalov has been suspect at best. The ex-King, and ex- Maple Leaf, turned aside 59 SOG, an average of approximately 20 per period.   A new NHL record for saves in a shutout.  Scrivens is now 2-2-0 for Edmonton.  It appears that the Oil have a more than decent shot of winning with Scrivens in net, as opposed to Bryzgalov....Just like last season, with apparently nothing to play for, the youngsters on Edmonton may feel more relaxed playing with Scrivens and you can expect their scoring to increase modestly.  Ryan Nugent-Hopkins & Taylor Hall each had 2 assists, with Hall adding a goal. Jordan Eberle had a power play goal and an assist. They are the three main forward contributors on offense for Edmonton along with Justin Schultz on the back-end who has been suffering from what appears to be a sophomore jinx. Fantasy owners have been frustrated by these and other Oilers for their non-consistent play, but as they mature, they will become elite fantasy scorers, so be patient for those of you in dynasty leagues....As we had mentioned in our SUNDAY MORNING COFFEE this past Sunday, the signings of both Patrick Marleau and Joe Thornton may cause a slowdown in scoring from these two forwards. Playing for a contract motivates players to do well to secure their future.  Having signed an extension causes a player to become less motivated, less focused.  We have seen this happen many times before.  Having a player sign an extension in the middle of a season does not bode well for their fantasy owners.  It happens to the ...
