Hal Gill (lower body) missed the entire first round of the playoffs, but he might be available for the second round opener. "Time heals all wounds," Gill said, while avoiding giving specifics about his status. It seemed like he was very close to playing on Friday, but the Predators ultimately decided against it. Nashville has a long rest ahead of them after winning their first round series in just five games, which should work in Gill's favor.

Hal Gill (lower body) will not play on Friday according to Predators coach Barry Trotz. "We're looking at a lot of things. Can I play? Yeah. Can I play well? Well enough? I don't know. There's a lot of decisions that need to be made," Gill said. "There's a lot of things that need to be taken into consideration and we have a lot of good players that have been doing the job." It sounds like Gill is close to returning, so while he won't play on Friday, he might be available for the Predators next game. Nashville will play on Sunday if they lose Friday. If they win, they'll advance to the next round.

Hal Gill participated in a full practice on Thursday and could be ready to play Friday after missing the previous four games with a lower body injury. Gill will be a game-time decision. Coach Barry Trotz said that the decision will be left to Gill but if he does play he will cut into the penalty killing time of Shea Weber and Ryan Suter and that's good news for the Predators. "Those are always hard minutes. Sutes and Webs are young and they're used to playing heavy minutes. I'm not worried about them getting worn out," Trotz said. "But (Gill) probably gives you the option to take those guys away from some of the hard matchups - be it penalty-kill or matchup situations on every shift." Stay tuned.

Hal Gill (lower body) skated on his own Wednesday. Coach Barry Trotz is encouraged by the big defender's progress, but he wouldn't say if Gill will return to the lineup for Game 5 on Friday night. "He is feeling better every day," Trotz said. "He's in a day-to-day mode right now. Do I expect him on Friday? I really can't answer that. That's probably a better question on Friday morning than it is today. He's making good solid progress right now. He's tracking very, very well for us right now." Gill has missed the first four games of the Predators' first-round series against Detroit because of a lower-body injury.

Though he is coming around, coach Barry Trotz said that Hal Gill's lower-body injury will keep him out of tonight Game 4 at Detroit. Of course it would be ideal to have the veteran defenseman in the lineup at any given time, let alone the postseason when he has suited up 105 times and won a Cup. The Preds do have a 2-1 series lead, which provides a little luxury against bringing him back too soon. Given his status remains day-to-day, Gill might be available late in the series depending on how things go against the Red Wings.

Predators coach Barry Trotz considers Hall Gill (lower-body injury) day-to-day. The defenseman participated in Monday's practice, but departed when the contact portion began. He's missed the first three games of the opening-round series and hasn't played since April 5, but seems to be progressing. "He'll be just day to day, and we'll see where he is. He said he felt a lot better. I said don't push it too hard," Trotz said. "He actually stayed out there for quite a while."

Hal Gill (lower body) took part in Nashville's practice on Monday. Gill has missed the first three games of the Predators' first round series against Detroit. He should be considered questionable for Game 4 on Tuesday.

Hal Gill (lower body) is hoping to get back into the lineup for Game 3 on Sunday. After having a light skate on Friday, Gill was not on the ice Saturday but had an off-ice workout. "He is getting closer," coach Barry Trotz said. "One of the things with certain injuries is sometimes you're better off not skating in terms of that and letting it settle down. Every day that goes by he is getting closer." Gill has been out since April 5. Don't count on him Sunday.

Hal Gill (lower body) wasn't on the ice Saturday. Gill opted instead to engage in an off-ice workout. Predators coach Barry Trotz said Gill didn't suffer a setback, but we would be mildly surprised if he played Sunday afternoon.

Hal Gill (lower body) doesn't think he'll play on Friday. Gill also missed Game 1 of Nashville's first round series against Detroit. He's a great defensive defenseman, so the fact that he hasn't been playing is a significant blow to the Predators.
