There was speculation that Gibson or Hiller could see some action after the Ducks' collapse but Boudreau will return with the rookie Andersen.

Andersen has been praised for his play in big games for the Ducks this season and will continue to lead their playoff run tonight.

Goalie Start: Andersen will start game 2 for the Ducks. dailyfaceoff.com Fri 4/18/14 2:56 PM

Andersen stopped 32 of 35 shots in the 3-2 win over the Stars in game 1. Anaheim jumped out to a 4-0 lead, just to allow the Stars to come back. He will be the Ducks' starter until he falters, and game 1 gave us a good idea of what he is capable of.

Andersen will miss his third straight game tonight. He suffered the injury last Friday, so it is a good sign that he is already back on the ice working out. Consider him day-to-day.

DAILY PRIME - APRIL 8, 2014: NOBODY'S HOME primepucks.com Tue 4/8/14 8:14 AM

Three games in the NHL last night. All three won by shutout.  All three won by the visiting team.   Two shutouts were by a score of 1-0.  Two rookie goaltenders made their NHL debut, one winning 3-0 while the other lost 1-0. In the final week of the regular season, most poolies pray for shutouts as in most leagues, they carry the most weight. Ilya Bryzgalov has been trying to find a home ever since last season's somewhat disastrous season in Philly. Bought out in the pre-season, "Breeze" landed with the Oilers briefly before shipped out to Minnesota where he has seemed to have found his game.  He blanked the Winnipeg Jets last night by stopping all 24 shots on goal to raise his record to 6-0-3.  The Jets started rookie Michael Hutchinson, who fared well in his debut facing only 17 SOG. With the Wild having injury prone starters in Backstrom & Harding, and with rookie Kuemper showing signs of inconsistency usually found in rookie net minders, the Wild just may have found their goaltender for next season. Karri Ramo and the Calgary Flames' 1-0 shutout of the New Jersey Devils dashed their hopes of making the playoffs.  The Devils desperately needed to win not only last night, but possibly all four of their remaining games to have a good shot at making the dance.  Flames D Mark Giordano put the dagger in with a power play goal just 23 seconds into the 3rd period and then Ramo turned aside the barrage of attacks from the Devils. Ever since his return from injury, Ramo has gone 5-3-0 and looks to be a solid #2 goalie heading into next season. Giordano has 46 points (career high) in 61 games played finally living up to the potential most poolies have sought for the last few years.  You should expect similar production from the 7-year veteran over the next few years. As if the Anaheim Ducks weren't deep enough in goaltending, rookie John Gibson took the NHL stage and backstopped the Ducks to a 3-0 victory over the Vancouver Canucks, turning aside all 18 SOG. Those in dynasty keeper leagues could o themselves a world of good by stashing this brilliant young net minder on their farm team as he is still a few years away.  The Ducks will probably go with Frederik Andersen next year, letting Hiller walk as a free agent, especially since they traded Viktor Fasth away at the trade deadline..

Injury: Andersen (upper-body) is expected to return to practice on ... dailyfaceoff.com Mon 4/7/14 7:56 PM

Andersen was shaken up in Friday's loss to the Predators. He was struck high by a puck and did not return for the third period. With Andersen sidelined and Jonas Hiller struggling, John Gibson will make his NHL debut on Monday. Regardless of the outcome, expect Gibson to be sent back to the AHL when Andersen is 100 per cent.

DAILY PRIME- APRIL 5, 2014: HOT HABS ARE A 10, ANDERSEN'S FAIRY TAL... primepucks.com Sat 4/5/14 7:30 AM

One of the hottest lines in the NHL right now combined for 10 points in last night's 7-4 victory over the Ottawa Senators. Thomas Vanek (3A), David Desharnais (G, A) and Max Pacioretty (3G, 2A) exploded after the Habs were down 3-0. These three are must starts in all fantasy leagues. Even without two of their biggest stars in the lineup, the Chicago Blackhawks, behind the Duncan Keith's 3 assists, were able to overcome the pesky Blue Jackets last night. Keith's numbers are very worthy of a second Norris Trophy (6-54-60 +20, 193 SOG, 26 PIM). Cory Schneider came up with a huge victory for the New Jersey Devils last night against Washington in regulation. The Capitals are a team that the Devils are fighting for that last playoff seed in the Eastern Conference.  Schneider has turned his game around after a bit of a slump just after the Olympics.  Look for the Devils to ride Schneider until they lock up a playoff spot or are eliminated.  Start Schneider with extreme confidence. What's up with Jonas Hiller? Last night's performance (13/17 SV) was not a way to instill confidence in your coaching staff as you team heads into the playoffs.  I believed that reliever Frederik Andersen deserved the start, especially after three quality wins in a row, but Hiller got the starting nod. Expect Andersen to see the majority of starts from here on out. You almost have to wish that the Calgary Flames were in the playoff hunt the way they have been playing over the month with an 11-8-0 record. Michael Cammalleri has 22 points over his last 19 games, so get him in your lineup.
