Kuznetsov's been excellent this season with 11 tallies, 22 helpers, 79 shots on net and a plus-15 rating in 30 appearances. He closes December with six points in seven outings.

While Kuznetsov may have been on the shelf long enough for some rust to accumulate, fantasy managers should get ready to plug him back into their lineups when Washington returns to action.

The 29-year-old is in the midst of a bounce-back season with eight goals and 28 points in 26 games and is one of the main reasons Washington has enjoyed so much success despite the aforementioned slate of injury and illness concerns. Kuznetsov's availability for Friday's game has yet to be determined so check back for further updates.

Even a casual hockey fan should be aware of Kuznetsov's status as an elite center, but look closer and you'll see that he's been producing at a career-best pace based on seven goals and 17 assists through 20 games. The Capitals have been using Kuznetsov in all different situations, including the penalty kill, where he's registered a goal and an assist shorthanded. Kuznetsov can do it all.

The 29-year-old Kuznetsov has been excellent so far this year with six goals, 16 helpers, 52 shots on net and a plus-9 rating in 19 contests. Seven of his 22 points have come with the man advantage. He's topped a point-per-game pace just once in his career when he racked up 83 points in 79 contests during the 2017-18 campaign.

Kuznetsov found John Carlson at the point, and Carlson's shot-pass led to a Garnet Hathaway goal to open the scoring with 3:30 left in the third period. The assist kept Kuznetsov hot in November -- he has a goal and eight helpers in nine games this month. The Russian center is up to 21 points (six tallies, 15 helpers), 49 shots on net and a plus-8 rating through 17 contests. Considering he doubled his hit total for the year in Wednesday's contest, we wouldn't expect a repeat display of physicality any time soon.
