Goalie Start: Nabokov gets the nod for the Islanders. dailyfaceoff.com Thu 3/27/14 2:56 PM

Nabokov stopped all 41 shots that he faced in a 2- win over the Blue Jackets on Sunday. After allowing 26 goals in his previous (3.71 G/G), no one saw a 41-save shutout coming. Despite the shutout, he is not a good option tonight in Tampa Bay vs. Steven Stamkos who has seven goals and three assists in his last seven games.

ALL GOALIES ARE CONFIRMED UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED AT THE TIME OF PRINT The Boston Bruins will look to avenge their 3-2 shootout loss on January 19th along with losing last year's Stanley Cup to the Chicago Blackhawks tonight at TD Garden. In what could possibly be a prelude to another Stanley Cup Finals match, this should bring all the intensity of a close rivalry.  Carey Crawford (LIKELY) will face Tuukka Rask, this time the B's finally get it done....Thomas Greiss will get the call again for Phoenix as the Coyotes try to build on their victory over the Penguins on Tuesday night. Martin Brodeur will look to keep New Jersey's playoff hopes alive, although he has lost 3 straight. Expect the Devils to bring it tonight against the NHL's least used backup in Greiss.  Don't let that fool you.  Greiss is a good goalie, and he plays in the Tippett system.  You know what that does to a goalie's performance?  Just ask Bryzgalov....Another potential Stanley Cup Finals matchup tonight in Pittsburgh as the Penguins host the Los Angeles Kings.  In a  battle ofthe backups, Jeff Zatkoff looks to end the Pens two-game losing streak but has tough competition with Martin Jones (LIKELY) in net for the Kings.  The Pens have been hit hard with injuries but still lead the Metropolitan Division and basically have it sewn up while LA is looking to shore up their position.  Should be a doozy....Detroit is fighting for their playoff lives and will face a streaking Montreal team that has won 3 in a row.  Jimmy Howard will get the call for the Red Wings as Carey Price will defend the net for the Habs.  Price is coming off a 2-0 blanking of the Sabres and is rounding into shape following his recent LBI.  Look for the Canadiens to clip the Wings tonight....In a game with no playoff implications but teams building for next season, Anton Khudobin will be in the crease for the Carolina Hurricanes as they head to Florida to take on Roberto Luongo and the Panthers.  This could be a good game fantasy-wise with lots of goals.....Don't look now but the John Tavares-less New York Islanders have won 2 in a row and look to make it 3 against Ben Bishop and the Tampa Bay Lightning.  I don't think so as the Bolts look to halt a 2-game skid and gain ground in a t least solidifying home ice advantage for the first round.  Evgeni Nabokov has been sharing the net lately with Anders Nilssonbut gets the call tonight.....Ryan Miller will look to backstop the NHL leading St. Louis blues to their 50th win ...

Goalie Start: Nabokov starts in goal for the Islanders. dailyfaceoff.com Sun 3/23/14 2:56 PM

Nabokov allowed four goals on 26 shots in a loss to the Sharks on March 14th. He was given the next two games off, but will be back in goal this afternoon vs. the Blue Jackets. The Isles are way out of the playoff picture, but could play spoiler today with the Jackets firmly in the playoff picture. However, from a fantasy standpoint, Nabby is not a good option.

Goalie Start: Nabokov starts in goal for the Isles. dailyfaceoff.com Fri 3/14/14 2:56 PM

Nabokov gave up four goals on 24 shots in a 7-4 win over the Canucks on Monday. The win was had more to do with the Canucks complete third-period collapse than Nabokov. He has allowed 22 goals (3.66 G/PG) in his last six starts. He has a terrible matchup tonight and should be avoided in all formats.

Nabokov allowed three goals on 29 shots in a loss to the Oilers on Wednesday. He has lost four of his last five starts while allowing 18 goals on 116 shots (.845 SV%). He is losing his 'starter' tag on Long Island, but does it really matter? They are terrible and you probably should own him regardless if he is the number-1 or not.

Goalie Start: Nabokov gets the call in goal for the Islanders. dailyfaceoff.com Thu 3/6/14 2:56 PM

Nabokov gave up five goals on 19 shots before being pulled on Saturday vs. the Devils. After an ugly performance the Isles elected to start Anders Nilsson in the last two games. They will go back to Nabby tonight, but with Thomas Vanek now in Montreal and John Tavares out for the season, Islanders goalies have become even less trustworthy than they already were.

Nabokov allowed four goals on 22 shots in a 5-4 OT win over the Maple Leafs on Thursday. Despite not having John Tavares or Frans Nielsen, the Islanders were able to push five past a rusty-looking Jonathan Bernier. This afternoon, Nabby will face the Devils for the third time this season. In the first two contests he has gone 1-1-0 with a 2.42 GAA and .907 SV%.

Goalie Start: Nabokov in goal for #Isles. dailyfaceoff.com Thu 2/27/14 2:56 PM

Nabokov allowed three goals on 25 shots in a loss to the Avalanche in his final start before the break. He managed to win one game in five attempts after returning from a leg injury. Despite losing four of five, Nabby posted a 2.16 GAA and .921 SV%. With John Tavares out for the remainder of the season and Thomas Vanek likely on his way out, Nabokov's value heading forward appears to be rather slim.

ALL GOALIES ARE CONFIRMED UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED AT THE TIME OF PRINT The Columbus Blue Jackets are still trying to claw their way into a playoff position but will find a tough opponent in the New Jersey Devils. Cory Schneider is firmly entrenched as the Devils Number 1 goaltender with Martin Brodeur quietly seeking a trade. Schneider's numbers are spectacular even though his win-loss record doesn't live up to those metrics.  However, he does give the Devils thebe best chance at winning, and that is what they need in order to get back into the playoff hunt.  Sergei Bobrovsky has been playing much better since his return from injury and he will need to lead the Jackets if they want to play in the dance come April. Devils at home.....The New York Islanders will face the Toronto Maple Leafs on the Island tonight but without their superstar, John Tavares.  Evgeni Nabokov will man the nets for the depleted squad while Jonathan Bernier goes for the Leafs. The Leafs may prove too much for the inexperienced Islanders who will also be without the services of Frans Nielsen & Matt Martin. Leafs blow away the Isles...their 11-4 surge started when they beat tonight's opponent, the Chicago Blackhawks, 3-2 in Chicago on January 8th. Henrik Lundqvist also started to return to form and the Rangers have been rolling along up until the Olympic break.  Lundqvist gets another days rest as Cam Talbot mans the pipes for the Blueshirts. The Hawks are 3-3-3 in past 9 and will try and get back on track with Corey Crawford getting the start. The Rangers should be focused as they don't play again until Saturday against Philly.  Rangers.... Speaking of Philly, San Jose heads into the City of Brotherly Love but won't find any as Steve Mason and the Flyers are pushing to secure a playoff position.  Alex Stalock should get the nod for the Sharks but will face a tough opponent tonight. Antti Niemi gets a little more rest. Take the cheesesteaks....The Montreal Canadiens had a tough overtime loss last night against Detroit but there is no letting up as they face the Eastern Conference leader, the Pittsburgh Penguins.  With Carey Price out for at least one more game, Peter Budaj (LIKELY) will probably man the crease again tonight. The Pens will probably go with Marc-Andre Fleury as they seek to lock down the top seed for the playoffs. With their legs under them now, I see an upset in Steeltown....A revitalized Braden Holtby leads the Washington Capitals into Miami, Florida to take on Tim ...
