The unstoppable defensive pair of Bouchard (18 points in seven games) and Chicago first-rounder Adam Boqvist (10 points in seven games) have London up 3-0 in the series and a game away from reaching the OHL finals. Bouchard's 18 postseason points lead the league. After struggling for much of the regular season (53 points in 45 games), the tenth-overall selection has picked a perfect time to find his game. It's highly likely that Bouchard spends the entirety of the 2019-20 campaign in Edmonton.

Bouchard, a highly touted blue-line prospect, appeared in seven games for the Oilers before it was determined that it would be better for his development to spend the rest of the season at junior. Edmonton also avoids having to burn the first year of his entry-level contract since the 19-year-old has returned to the OHL before his ninth game.

Bouchard will make his NHL debut Saturday afternoon, as the Oilers get set to face the Devils in Sweden, Jack Michaels of the Oilers Radio Network reports.

An injury to Andrej Sekera (Achilles) cleared a path to immediate playing time at the top level for Bouchard, but as Edmonton's first-round (10th overall) pick from 2018, he probably wasn't far from earning a promotion under his own merit. The Ontario native with the cannon for a point shot generated 38 goals and 148 total points for the OHL's London Knights between 2015-19. Provided he's already in the player pool in DFS contests, Bouchard will be a stealthy option in the infancy of the 2018-19 season.

Bouchard was excellent for the London Knights of the OHL last season, racking up 25 goals and 87 points in 67 games. He has the size (6-foot-2, 193 pounds) to make the leap to the big club, and his two-way abilities are advanced, which made him the 10th overall pick in the 2018 NHL Draft. Bouchard will turn 19 years old in October, so if he can't make the team he'll go back to the OHL and play for the London Knights.
