He should continue to see top-four minutes and premium ice time with the team's biggest stars, but the peripheral numbers may continue to struggle if the Oilers' goaltending can't settle down.

Bouchard's role as the Oilers' power-play quarterback vaulted him up the draft board in most fantasy formats this year. While the Oilers' offense was quiet in their season opener, the lone goal in the loss came with the man advantage. Bouchard had 40 points in 82 contests last season, and 13 of them came on the power play. The 23-year-old blueliner should continue to be productive as a top-four option.

Bouchard inked a two-year, $7.8 million contract with Edmonton on Thursday.

Bouchard recorded eight goals, 40 points, 156 shots, 95 hits and 77 blocks in 82 contests last season. It was the second straight campaign in which he's reached the 40-point milestone, which makes the 23-year-old defenseman's $3.9 million cap hit look like great value for Edmonton, but the tradeoff is that it's a short-term deal. If Bouchard continues to develop like he has, then he'll be in line for a massive raise at the end of this contract.

Bouchard has been held off the scoresheet just once through 11 outings in the 2023 playoffs. Not only has he been consistent, but he's also recorded six multi-point contests in that span, bringing him up to four goals and 17 postseason points this year. With Darnell Nurse (suspension) unavailable, Bouchard logged 27:21 of ice time Friday, which was up from an average of 19:40 over the first four games of the series. Nurse is eligible to return Sunday.
