Karlsson has not been cleared to return by any means so even a speculative add wouldn't be worth burning the roster spot at this point. He attended practice for the team photo.

Karlsson was injured in a Feb. 13 game against the Pittsburgh Penguins when his left Achilles was cut by Matt Cooke's left skate. He had surgery to repair the tendon the next day. He has been skating for 30-40 minutes daily at the Bell Sensplex, fueling speculation he may return this season.

Karlsson skated yesterday for the firs time since getting his achilles sliced. He is still likely to miss the rest of the regular season, but you never know. This is an incredible recovery and he should at least be back for a Senators playoff run. If you have an empty roster spot, why not stash him and hope he returns in time for you to be in the Fantasy Finals.

Karlsson is still not expected to be back in the regular season, but the Senators could certainly use him in the playoffs. This is a great sign for Ottawa fans.
STOCKY HOCKEY 101: SURVIVING INJURIES TO YOUR TOP DEFENSEMEN primepucks.com Tue 2/19/13 6:04 PM
Nothing could be more crippling to your fantasy hockey championship hopes than losing an elite defenseman to long-term injury. Those type of players are simply irreplacable, because chances are quite remote that players of comparable fantasy value are available off the waiver wire. This dilemma is way more magnified during this lockout-shortened season, since there simply isn't much time to get your stud blueliner back in the lineup. In the wake of season-ending injuries to Erik Karlsson and ones of the ambiguos week-to-week variety like the shoulder injury that has shelved Tobias Enstrom indefinitely, their respective owners need to act fast. The following are strategies aimed to help owners cope with such a difficult situation.

Star defenceman Erik Karlsson went down with a left Achilles injury when he was cut by a skate blade late in the second period in the Senators' 4-2 loss to Pittsburgh on Wednesday night. An achilles injury is really serious and Karlsson is going to miss the rest of the year.

The NHLPA is expected to make a counteroffer to the NHL by Monday. The reaction by the owners to the player union's proposal will go a long way in determining if the entire 2012/13 season will be entirely lost. Safe to say, this it folks... let's cross our fingers.
Ottawa All-World defenseman Erik Karlsson ended his stint with Jokerit of Finland with a 5-point effort, giving him 34 points in 30 SM-liiga games. Sounds like he is ready to go.. Undeniably the top fantasy blueliner in the NHL today.
Defenseman Stefan Elliott scored two goals in Lake Erie's 4-0 victory over Hamilton. Despite the offensive explosion, the talented rearguard has only managed 8 points in 30 AHL games, cooling off my huge expectations of his possible breakout during the upcoming season. Keep your eye on him, as he could still pay off as a late-round sleeper in your drafts.
