DAILY PRIME - MARCH 20, 2014: STAMKOS, CRAWFORD, LACK AND MORE primepucks.com Thu 3/20/14 8:48 AM
Short schedule last night in the NHL with only 4 games played. Tampa Bay took out Toronto 5-3 as Steve Stamkos had a huge game with 3 goals. When he stays healthy Stamkos is one of the best fantasy forwards in the NHL. He has 19 goals and 30 points for the year in only 24 games played. Stay healthy Steve. Young forward Tyler Johnson had a goal and an assist for Tampa as well, and with 44 points on the season, he is developing into fantasy relevance. Keep an eye on him. Center Tyler Bozak had 2 assists for the Leafs. He has 42 points this season in only 47 games played . Look for him next year in your draft. The Blackhawks shut out the Blues 4-0 in a bit of a suprise, as Chicago had been struggling lately. Great game for goaltender Corey Crawford as he had the shutout with 23 saves. At 27-12-10 on tthe year with a 2.21 GAA and a .919 SP, he has been playing well. Defenseman Nick Leddy had 2 assists for Chicago, and with 28 points on the season he is a marginal 4th defenseman. Left wing Andrew Ladd had 2 goals for Winnipeg in their 5-4 win over Colorado. I have always liked Ladd who plays hard all the time. He now has 50 points on the season with 2 goals. You should pick him up if he is available in your pool. He is very dependable. Al Montoya got the win, and he is the man now in goal for the Jets with their injuries. His record is solid at 12-6-3 with a 2.26 GAA and a .921 SP. Defenseman Tobias Enstrom had 2 assists or Winnipeg, but he has just 26 points on the season. Great game for Eddie Lack in goal for Vancouver as he shutout Nashville in a 2-0 win last night. Lack had 30 saves, and while he does have a losing record at 13-14-4, he does have decent metrics with a 2.34 GAA and a .915 SP. Young Danish left wing Nicklas Jensen had a goal for the Canucks, and with 5 points in only 7 games played this year he looks like a good up and comer.

Goalie Start: Lack starts his 12th straight game tonight vs. Nashvi... dailyfaceoff.com Wed 3/19/14 2:56 PM
Lack surrendered four goals on 30 shots in a loss to the Lightning on Monday. He has alternated wins and losses in his last seven contests, so if the streak continues he will chalk up a W tonight. In his previous 11 starts he has four wins with a 2.77 GAA and .894 SV%.

Ben Bishop and the Tampa Bay Lightning host the Toronto Maple Leafs who will be going with James Reimer (LIKELY) as Bernier recovers from his LBI. The Leafs lost a tough one last night to the Red Wings and hope to get back on track tonight against this year's top goalie story, Bishop. Bishop is on a 3-game winning streak so the Leafs need to bring their best. All things point to Tampa in this one....Ryan Miller and the St. Louis Blues try and continue their own three-game winning streak against a slumping Chicago Blackhawks team. Miller is 7-0-1 for St. Louis and he will take on Corey Crawford in the Windy City. The Hawks are just 4-5-1 in last ten games and have slipped back in the race for the Western Conference, and possibly, NHL points title. This will be a great one to watch, but not predict....Reto Berra will be making his first start with the Colorado Avalanche since coming over from Calgary at the trade deadline. With Giguere starting last night, this will give Number 1 starter Varlamov a few extra days to rest. Unfortunately, he will be facing a Winnipeg Jets team that is in desperate need of wins and points, so they will be coming at him hard. Al Montoya gets the call again as Pavelec is still out with an injury. Jets fly...Carter Hutton (LIKELY) will try and keep the Nashville Predators playoff hopes alive as he goes against the Vancouver Canucks who are in the same boat. Eddie Lack (LIKELY) gets the nod and has been a bit erratic since becoming the undisputed Number 1. Both teams haven't fared well over the past 10 games, but being home after a long road trip should help the Canucks.
FANTASY MUST STARTS:
Ben Bishop, Tampa Bay @ Toronto
SLEEPER:
Eddie Lack, Vancouver vs. Nashville

Goalie Start: Lack starts in goal for the Canucks. dailyfaceoff.com Mon 3/17/14 2:56 PM
Lack allowed three goals on 29 shots in a 4-3 win over Roberto Luongo and the Panthers on Sunday. Lack has given up 21 goals in six starts since Luongo was traded. Tonight, he will need to be great as he goes head-to-head with Ben Bishop.
THE GOALIE EDGE 3/16/2014 primepucks.com Sun 3/16/14 10:16 AM
Philadelphia and Pittsburgh will start things off today with a 12:30 match. The Flyers will (LIKELY) start Steve Mason in goal. Mason has played well this year as he has a 27-16-6 record with a 2.56 GAA and a .915 SP. He is 3-2 in his last 5 games. Marc-Andre Fleury is (LIKELY) for the Penguins. He is having a great year with 34 wins and a 2.28 GAA. Go with Fleury in this one. Ben Scrivens has been (CONFIRMED) for the Oilers against Carolina. Scrivens has played pretty well this year with a 2.24 GAA and a .930 SP, but he has lost his last 2 games. Anton Khudobin is (LIKELY) for Carolina after Cam Ward played the last game. Khudobin had a good start to the season, but he has gotten leky with losses in 4 of his last 5 games. Like Scrivens in this game. Toronto is at Washington, and James Reimer is (LIKELY) for the Leafs. He did shutout the Kings in his last game, but his numbers are not great with a 3.23 GAA and a .914 SP. Jaroslav Halak is (LIKELY) for the Capitals and he is 2-2 in his last 4 games. The Canucks will visit Florida today, and Eddie Lack has been (CONFIRMED) for Vancouver. Lack has gone 2-3 in his last 5 games, allowing 18 goals during that period. Roberto Luongo (CONFIRMED) has also gone 2-3 in his last 5 games, but only allowing 13 goals. Still we like Lack in this game.
The Sharks will visit the Rangers in a 4:00 meeting. San Jose goaltender Antti Niemi (LIKELY) has been hot lately with 4 straight wins. He should face Henrik Lundqvist (LIKELY) for New York Lundqvist has won 3 of his last 4 games allowing only 7 goals. This is a tough one, but go with Niemi. The Avalanche will face the Senators in Ottawa today. Semyon Varlamov has been (CONFIRMED) for Colorado. He has had a great year with 33 wins, but he got lit up by Anaheim in his last game allowing 5 goals. He is 4-2 in his lat 6 games though. Craig Anderson is (LIKELY) for Ottawa despite his collison last game with Milan Michalek which knocked him out of the game. Anderson's 3.10 GAA is not good so we would go with Varlamov. With Carey Price injured, Peter Budaj (CONFIRMED) will start today for Montreal against Buffalo. Budaj is only 8-8-2 on the year, and he has lost his last 4 games. Michal Neuvirth will (LIKELY) start for the Sabres, and he is only 4-8-2 on the year with a 2.78 GA. Like Montreal in this one. Detroit is at Chicago this afternoon and Jimmy Howard is (LIKELY) for the Red Wings. He has a losing 14-15-10 record, and has lost 3 of his last 4 games. Corey ...

Lack allowed two goals on 34 shots in a 3-2 shootout win over the Jets on Wednesday. After a disastrous outing in Vancouver on Monday, Lack bounced back nicely vs. Winnipeg. He will make his ninth straight start tonight, he has won three of the last eight with a 2.44 GAA and .906 SV%.
DAILY PRIME TODAY: BOSTON ROCKS, EDDIE LACK TAKES OVER, AND MORE primepucks.com Thu 3/13/14 6:11 AM
The Boston Bruins took care of the struggling Montreal Canadiens 4 to 1 last night. Bruin forward Patrice Bergeron had a good night with a goal and an assist, while Brad Marchand had 2 assists. Both forwards are marginal fantasy players. Bergeron has 19 goals and 46 points on the season, while Marchand has 42 points. Defenseman Zdeno Chara had a goal for Boston, but with 29 points on the season, he has somewhat underperformed expectations. Tuukka Rask had 35 saves in the win, and he is one of the premier fantasy goalies in the NHL with 29 wins and a 2.12 GAA. Peter Budaj is substituing for injured Carey Price in goal for Montreal, and he has had a hard time with 4 straight losses, allowing 13 goals.....Vancouver beat Winnipeg 3-2, as Andrew Burrows had 2 goals for the Canucks, his first goals of the season, but with only 8 points on the season he has no fantasy value. Eddie Lack had 32 saves in goal for the win, and he is a top fantasy goalie now.....Colorado beat the suddenly struggling Blackhawks 3-2 as Avalanche forward Matt Duchene had a goal and an assist. Duchene is a huge star in the making, and he has 7 points in his last 5 games, and 62 points in 63 games this year. Close to 100 point potential next year. Colorado forward Ryan O'Reilly had a goal and an assist as well, and with 53 points on the year he is breaking out as a young star. Avalanche Goalie Semyon Varlamov continued his amazing season with win number 33. His GAA of 2.44 and his SP of .926 are outstanding....The Calgary Flames beat the struggling Anaheim Ducks 7-2. What is going on with the Ducks with 4 straight losses. Mikael Backlund had 2 goals for the Flames, but he is not fantasy worthy with only 33 points on the year. Calgary defenseman Mark Giordano had a goal and an assist as well, and he is one of the top fantasy defensemen in the NHL with 37 points. Anaheim goalie Jonas Hiller has really fallen apart with 3 straight losses, allowing 14 goals in that time. He is 3-7 in his last 10 games, and he looks really shaky.

Eddie Lack will be back in net for the Vancouver Canucks after that disastrous third period against the NY Isles last time out. Expect a tighter game as the ‘Nucks head to Winnipeg to take on a reeling Jets team that has lost 3 in a row after going 5-2-0 and getting themselves close to playoff contention. Ondrej Pavelec should be back in goal for the Jets, but should be facing a more spirited Canucks team with something to prove... Antti Raanta gets the nod tonight for the Chicago Blackhawks as they travel to Colorado to take on Semyon Varlamov and the Avalanche. The Hawks will be looking to avenge their 4-2 loss on March 4th. A battle worth watching as the two clubs look to keep pace with the Western Conference leaders.....In the lone Eastern Conference contest, Boston heads to Montreal to take on Peter Budaj and the Canadiens. The Habs are back home after an unsuccessful 4-game West Coast swing as they are feeling the effects of not having their star goalie Carey Price who is still out with an LBI. Tuukka Rask (LIKELY) will lead the Bruins in what should be a rock'em, sock'em affair. Budaj has faltered lately as the fill-in Number 1 (going 2-3-1) after serving well as the backup (6-4-1) but the big, bad Bruins may prove to be too much for the road-weary Habs....You would think that a game against the Calgary Flames would be just what the doctor ordered for the 3-game losing streak Anaheim ducks, but Flames goalie Joni Ortio has been playing well in net despite losing the last two. Jonas Hiller (LIKELY) will be back in net for the Ducks but don't expect a cakewalk. The Flames play hard and to the end. Ducks will squeak by...
