The Red Wings are hopeful Larkin (upper body) will be available for Tuesday's game versus the Rangers, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.

The Red Wings continue to sizzle with the man advantage, and Larkin has been at the heart of the team's potent power-play performance. The 27-year-old has found the scoresheet in five straight games to begin the season, amassing two goals and nine points, and all of those points aside from two helpers have come up a man. Larkin has fallen just short of a point-per-game pace in each of the last two campaigns, but he appears poised to blow past that level of production in 2023-24.

Larkin notched three assists, four shots on goal and seven PIM in Wednesday's 6-3 win over the Penguins.

Larkin assisted on goals by Ben Chiarot and David Perron in the second period as well as Alex DeBrincat's empty-netter in the third. Two of those helpers came on the power play, giving Larkin four power-play points among his one goal and five assists over four games to begin the season. The center is in fine playmaking form, and he's been a bit unlucky to bury just one of 22 shots so far.

Larkin scored a power-play goal on five shots in Monday's 4-0 win over the Blue Jackets.

The team captain has dialed up a helper in each of his first two games of this new campaign.

Despite leading the team in shots, Larkin was unable to bag the crucial goal that could have helped to force overtime. After back-to-back 30-goal campaigns, there is little reason to suspect that the 27-year-old Michigan native won't once again reach that level of production during the 2023-24 campaign.
