The veteran blueliner wasn't expected to have a prominent offensive role for Boston when he was picked up from the Capitals last week, but Orlov has suddenly erupted for three goals and eight points in the last three games, including a goal and a helper with the man advantage. He almost certainly won't keep up this pace, especially with Charlie McAvoy handling the point on the first power-play unit, but the Bruins' attack is potent enough that even secondary pieces like Orlov might have more fantasy value than anticipated down the stretch.

The 31-year-old has been a good fit in a bottom-four role, though the improvement in talent around him from what he had with the Capitals has also bolstered his offense. For the season, the blueliner has five goals, 19 helpers, 81 shots on net, 94 hits, 67 blocked shots and a plus-3 rating through 46 appearances.

Orlov registered two assists and three hits in a 3-2 win over Edmonton on Monday.

Orlov, who was acquired from Washington on Thursday, was playing in his second game with Boston. He had a minus-1 rating, a shot, two hits and a block in his Bruins debut Saturday. Orlov has three goals, 21 points, 63 blocks and 93 hits in 45 games this season.

Orlov and Garnet Hathaway were traded from the Capitals to the Bruins on Thursday in exchange for Craig Smith, a 2023 first-round pick, a 2025 second-round pick and a 2024 third-round pick

Orlov will likely see a smaller role with the Bruins, but his physicality and defensive play will shore up his new team's depth. Per the Wild, both the Capitals and the Wild are retaining salary on Orlov, with prospect Andrei Svetlakov sent to the Capitals in the deal.
