He is a bottom six player who had 14 points and 40 penalty minutes in 66 games last season before a hit by Chris Summers forced him to sit out the last 14 games. He has no fantasy value.

Players inked to one-way contracts have a much better chance of staying in the NHL because they get paid the same amount even if they get sent to the minors. MacKenzie will turn 31 in June, but he had only participated in 64 going into the 2010-11 campaign. He's finally managed to establish himself as a regular at the NHL level, although he doesn't have any fantasy value in standard leagues.

It will be a game-time decision as to whether Derek MacKenzie plays against the Oilers Sunday afternoon. He has been practising with his teammates and seems to be almost fully recovered from a concussion. Consider MacKenzie questionable for Sunday's contest.

MacKenzie is a physical bottom-six forward who is able to stay out of the sin bin for the most part.
