Backes will see time on the right wing, if he starts at all, for Saturday's game against the Maple Leafs, Matt Porter of The Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
Backes as the third-line center has not worked out as well as head coach Bruce Cassidy expected. Jakob-Forsbacka Karlsson was recalled from AHL Providence and will slot in on the third line, with either Backes or Andres Bjork lining up on the right side. Through 10 games Backes has failed to put up any points.

Backes (upper body) will suit up against the Predators on Saturday, Joe McDonald of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Backes is set to return to the lineup following a five-game stint on the sidelines. Prior to getting hurt, the winger was pointless in seven contests, despite averaging 1:40 of ice time on the power play. The Minneapolis native will likely take on a bottom-six role versus Nashville on Saturday.

Coach Bruce Cassidy noted Thursday that Backes (upper body) "should be good" to go Saturday against the Predators.
EDGE Analysis
Backes manned the right wing on the Bruins' third line Thursday, and his anticipated return will add some valuable experience and grit to the team's forward corps. The 34-year-old has gone seven games without a point to date, but look for him to provide the team with some needed secondary scoring as the season rolls along.

Backes (upper body) skated Monday but will not play against the Hurricanes on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Backes has not played since injuring himself Oct. 18 against the Oilers. Sitting out Tuesday's contest gives the Bruins' forward four days of extra rest before Saturday's game in Nashville. In seven games this season, the 34-year-old is without a point and doesn't deserve a regular spot in fantasy lineups until his production improves.

Backes (upper body) will not play in Saturday's home game against the Canadiens, Fluto Shinzawa of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Backes shed 10 points in the offseason and vowed to play better this season after a myriad of issues affected his production in the 2017-18 campaign. Unfortunately, the versatile forward just can't seem to steer clear of the injury bug, and he's still searching for his first point through seven contests this time around. Fantasy owners shouldn't hesitate to drop Backes in shallow leagues since there's still no definitive timeline for his return.

Backes is dealing with an upper-body injury, but the Bruins are still hoping that he'll be able to hit the ice soon, Joe Haggerty of NBC Sports Boston reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's safe to deduce that Backes won't be available for Thursday's home game against the Flyers, especially since he's now dealing with an injury after missing the last two contests with an illness. At this point, it's anyone's guess if he'll be fit to play in Saturday's home clash with the Canadiens, but we'll keep you abreast of any developments concerning the versatile veteran forward.

Backes (illness) returned to Boston on Monday and will not play Tuesday in Ottawa.
EDGE Analysis
According to head coach Bruce Cassidy, Backes was not feeling well and the team felt it was best that he returned home and have some tests done by the team's medical staff. At this point, the illness doesn't figure to keep Backes sidelined for long.

Backes (illness) isn't in the lineup against the Canucks on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Although he's pointless thus far, Backes is effective on the penalty kill and has 11 hits and eight shots on goal in seven games. Ryan Donato will slot into the lineup, and updates on Backes' condition should surface after the game.

During Thursday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Oilers, Backes took a high hit from Matt Benning but returned to the game after spending awhile in the locker room.
EDGE Analysis
Although Backes only ended up skating 6:28 in the game, he did return to the bench and saw ice time. The hit took place during the first period, and head coach Bruce Cassidy said he expected the NHL to take a look at the hit that sent the veteran center to the trainers. Considering Backes returned to the game the hit doesn't seem to be a concern moving forward.

Backes skated on the Bruins' third line at practice Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Early on this season, coach Bruce Cassidy continues to tinker with his line combos, so it looks like Backes could center Danton Heinen and Andres Bjork in Monday's game against the Senators. With Backes moving up in the lineup, Sean Kuraly worked on the Bruins' fourth line at practice Sunday, per Matt Porter of The Boston Globe. If Backes clicks with Heinen and Bjork, it would help solidify the team's third line, which has been a work in progress as the Cassidy seeks to to fill the void created by the free agent loss of pivot Riley Nash.
