Alfie had a tough night vs. Phoenix. He finished with a minus-3 rating and had a bad turnover in the final minute that led to a Coyotes empty net goal that iced the game.

He sat out yesterday because of groin tenderness, but stated he would play. Alfredsson will appear in his second game as a Red Wing after playing 16:13 and recording three shots in his debut.

Along with the 2 goals, he took 3 SOG and had 2 Hits and 1 Blocked Shot.  In the opener against Montreal, he didn't get on the score sheet, but was involved throughout the game with 2 SOG, 1 BS and 4 Hits.  Solid 5-6 forward on your fantasy squad....New Head Coach Patrick Roy may be doing wonders for Colorado Avalanche G Semyon ...

Red Wings head coach Mike Babcock expected Alfredsson to be ready for tonight's preseason game, however that is not the case. Detroit's second line of Johan Franzen, Stephen Weiss and Alfredsson has yet to play a preseason game as a full unit.

"It was a good practice today,'' Alfredsson said. "I felt good. It was a good pace. I'll see how I feel later today and tomorrow and go from there.'' Babcock said he assumes Alfredsson will play Wednesday.

This is good news for the Red Wings, they will most certainly have Alfredsson in their opening night roster vs. the Sabres.
