ADD'EM: BURNS SWIMMING WITH THE SHARKS AGAIN primepucks.com Mon 11/25/13 5:23 AM
Brent Burns-San Jose, RW (Owned in 77.4% of ESPN leagues)
After missing time on the injured reserve, the winger was back on Joe Thornton's line this week with a goal and an assist in the two games. With 10 points in 10 games, the 28-year old has become a permanent fixture in the top-six and also presents the possibilty of having dual position eligibility if he is ever moved back on defense. His booming shot has made him indispensable on the power-lay, so a "healthy" Burns could be a fantasy difference-maker down the stretch. Just hope that he can stay out of the infirmiery!
Gustav Nyquist- Detroit Red Wings, C (Owned in 22.1% of ESPN leagues)
With the news that Nyquist will be staying up with Red Wings for the rest of the season, fantasy owners should be snatching up the talented forward on the merits of his offensive upside and potential line-mates. While return of Stephen Weiss and Daniel Alfredsson can effect his top-six status among the forwards, Nyquist will be given a shot to play a more prominent role on the offense. He scored 2 goals in his season debut against Carolina while lining up with Henrik Zetterberg and Johan Franzen. With Pavel Datsyuk possibly dealing with a concussion, Nyquist might be relied upon even more.
Kimmo Timonen- Philadelphia Flyers, D (Owned in 80.1% of ESPN leagues)
Does four points in the last four games fully restore our faith in the usually consistent Finn, who did not register a single point for the first 13 games? Ouch! Not quite, but the 38-year old veteran has bounced back in a strong way, collecting five points in his last 11 games. Even with the addition of Mark Streit, Timonen has maintained his position on the Flyer's top power-play, which has vastly improved during the team's strong stretch. He might not match his numbers from last season, but he should be a lock for 30-point production. Decent "buy-low" opportunity.
Andrej Sekera- Carolina Hurricanes, D (Owned in 23.9% of ESPN leagues)
Despite having his goal-scoring streak snapped at two games, the defender played over 23 minutes in yesterday's 4-1 win over Ottawa, while leading the entire team in PP time with 3:28 minutes. His game has taken off since being partnered with Justin Faulk on the top pairing. With 11 points (5G/6A) in 24 games, the 27-year old is showing off some of his untapped offensive upside, but it surely helps that he is getting an uptick in minutes.
Marek Mazanec- Nashville Predators, G ( (Owned in 12.6% of ESPN leagues)

Injury: Alfredsson (groin) returns to the lineup tonight vs. Buffalo. dailyfaceoff.com Sun 11/24/13 2:56 PM
Alfredsson will play tonight after missing the last five games. The Red Wings will be without Pavel Datsyuk tonight due to a possible concussion, so Alfie will slide into the top-6 tonight. He registered three goals and 11 assists in his first 19 games as a Red Wing.
Injury: Alfredsson (groin) will not play tonight. dailyfaceoff.com Sat 11/23/13 7:56 PM
Alfredsson let head coach Mike Babcock know that he is ready to go tonight, but he will sit against his former team as the Red Wings go with the same lineup as Thursday. He will miss his fifth straight game after tweaking his groin in warmups last Friday.
Injury: Alfredsson (groin) is not ready for Tuesday, head coach Mik... dailyfaceoff.com Mon 11/18/13 2:56 PM
Alfredsson will miss his third straight game on Tuesday. The 40-year-old winger has three goals and 11 assists in his first 19 games with the Red Wings. Consider Alfie questionable for Thursday's contest.
Injury: Alfredsson (groin) will be a game-time decision tonight. dailyfaceoff.com Sat 11/16/13 2:56 PM
Alfredsson was a late scratch on Friday, he was likely injured in warmups. Monitor his status closer to puck-drop, if he can't go, Luke Glendening will suit up after being recalled this morning.
THE GOALIE EDGE: 10/23/2013 primepucks.com Wed 10/23/13 1:16 PM
Daniel Alfredsson faces his old team of 17 years tonight, as the Ottawa Senators pay a visit to Detroit. From a pure emotional standpoint, you figure the home guys in red and white will work extra hard to help "Alfie" get the "duke". The Sen's are giving up tons of shots lately and could be much worse off if not for Craig Anderson's heroics in the crease. Power play woes will also contribute to their struggles, so Jimmy Howard and the Wings have the decisive edge in this one. Take Howard and don't look back.. Even though Chad Johnson is making his first start, the Bruins should easily get by a disfunctional Buffalo team. Love Boston on the road and maybe Jarome Iginla gets his first regular-season goal for the "B's". Just a thought..

Hot Streak: Alfredsson has eight points during the streak. dailyfaceoff.com Sat 10/19/13 2:56 PM
Aldredsson has been hot this season with 10 points in 10 games. However, you need to be cautious with the 40 year old winger. Shop him around your league to see if you can get a better player for the long-run.
DAILY PRIME OCTOBER 18, 2013: STACKED DECK OF RED WINGS primepucks.com Fri 10/18/13 6:09 AM
In the 4-2 victory over the previously undefeated Colorado Avalanche last night, the vast array of firepower on the Detroit Red Wings was on full display, led by two-goal efforts by both both Pavel Datsyuk (who else?) and Johan Franzen. Daniel Alfredsson chipped in with three big helpers, including two with the man advantage. In particular, the 40-year old "Alfie" was a bit of a question mark for fantasy owners joining Detroit now during his twilight years and having never played for another team other than his beloved Ottawa Senators. However, the seasoned Swede has fit in nicely as a complimentary scorer, albeit in a more expanded role given the big minutes he gets on their explosive power play. With one goal and 8 assists in eight games, Alfredsson is definitely worth a look as a depth forward on your fantasy squads.. Niklas Kronwall sustained a concussion early in the first period after a hit by Colorado's Cody McLeod, and did not return. Early reports point to him missing some time, but he needs to be re-evaluated by team doctors. In the interim, Jakub Kindl will be the main beneficiary in his absence, as he gobbled up all the top power-play time (5:00) and also picked up an assist. Kronwall owners should scoop him up ASAP...Goalie Jonas Gustavsson was spectacular in the crease, thwarting away 38 of 40 Colorado shots. In relief of the injured Jimmy Howard, he has gone 3-0 with 1.67 GAA and a .953 SP.
Other Fantasy Notes: Remember the hot start by Patrick Marleau last season? The Shark forward is back to his "old tricks", scoring a goal in his fourth straight game and now has nine points in seven games. Just know that he will slow down big-time at some point. However, he is more than capable of 30-goal, 70-point production even in his waning years.. In the 2-1 SO win for the Kings over the Predators, the goaltending duel between Jonathan Quick and Pekka Rinne is a clear example why both belong in the fantasy top-five year-in, year-out... Ottawa's Jason Spezza is on fire, recording his second straight three-point game. When healthy, the Sen's captain is fantasy gold. Coming off an injury-plagued season, a huge comeback is coming.. Promising defensemen Dougie Hamilton scored his first goal of the season for Boston. The youngster has taken a backseat to Torey Krug on the "B's" power play, but is too talented to ignore. Expect him to make his mark later in the year, as he continues to learn from his growing pains during his sophomore season.. Marian ...
