Goalie Start: Anderson will start in goal for the Senators. dailyfaceoff.com Wed 10/22/14 2:56 PM

Given the state of the city of Ottawa right now, there is a good chance that the game between the Maple Leafs and Senators will be postponed. However, the Senators are preparing as if the game will go on, if it does, Anderson will start.

Anderson stopped all 30 shots that he faced in a 1-0 win in Florida on Monday. Anderson has had a nice start to the season, posting a 1-1 record with a 1.51 GAA and .955 SV%. Should he get the start tonight, he will face a Colorado team who are having a hard time scoring early in the season.

Anderson allowed three goals on 37 shots in Ottawa's 3-2 loss to the Predators on opening night. He sat against the Lightning, but gets back in goal with a nice matchup today vs. Florida. The Panthers have struggled to keep the puck out of the net in the early part of the season, so Anderson has a good chance to chalk up his first W of the year.

After a great lockout shortened season, Anderson stumbled to 25 wins with a 3.00 GAA and .911 SV% in 2013-14. He started 2014-15 on a strong note posting a 1.91 GAA and .922 SV% in the preseason. He will start his regular season against the Predators, who he had a 2.20 / and .935 against in two starts last season.

Signing: The Senators signed Craig Anderson to a three-year contrac... dailyfaceoff.com Fri 8/29/14 2:56 PM

A season after posting an NHL-best .941 SV%, Anderson struggled to a 25-16-8 record with a 3.00 GAA and .911 SV%. Just weeks after the Sens signed Robin Lehner to a three-year extension, they locked up the other half of their goaltending duo through 2017-18. Anderson will start the season as the number-1 and will be looking for a bounce back season; but the team in front of him is looking like a basement dweller.

DAILY PRIME - AUGUST 25, 2014: PRIME VIEWS FREE PREVIEW - THE CRAIG... primepucks.com Mon 8/25/14 11:19 AM

PRIME VIEWS: CRAIG ANDERSON CONTRACT EXTENSION SIGNING In our PrimePucks™ Fantasy Hockey Draft Guide, we had Ottawa Senator goalie Craig Anderson pegged to start 52 games this season after a year where he battled not only a poor start but another bout with an injury or two. Anderson didn't get off to the start the Sens were hoping for and, combined with backup Robin Lehner's inability to string together some solid outings since a somewhat successful November, the Senators were climbing an uphill battle in a tough Atlantic Division. The signing of Anderson to a 3-year extension at a reasonable price creates a good situation for the Senators in that he is not too expensive to trade away to a team in search of a veteran presence in net if he falters and Lehner rebounds and becomes the goalie that Ottawa envisions as their future No. 1 net minder. The extension should also boost Anderson's confidence as the No. 1 and we think he can regain his form but with a 50-30 split in terms of games started.  Perhaps the lightened workload will prevent the rash of nagging injuries to Anderson but that will all depend on Lehner recovering from last season's slippage. Anderson's numbers should tighten up a little bit from last season's poor performance, but don't expect the injury-prone goalkeeper to get the lion's share of starts with Lehner emerging.

SUNDAY MORNING COFFEE: 4/13/2014 primepucks.com Sun 4/13/14 10:31 AM

Got my mug full and ready to roll! Thank you Ryan Smyth for 18+ years of inspirational hockey! Congratulations to the Boston Bruins for winning the President's Cup! What a tremendous season for the top team in the NHL who didn't have a scorer in the top 20, but who had 7 in the top 20 in plus/minus.  There is a possibility that Claude Giroux could end up second in total points with a good game today. That would be a tremendous feat considering how he and the Philadelphia Flyers started out this season. What a performance from Carey Price (41 SV) and the Montreal Canadiens against the NY Rangers last night! Cam Talbot wasn't too shabby either. Don't forget about Craig Anderson next year in your draft. He will bounce back from this subpar season. Also, Jason should be back to a point-per-game player now that he is over his back injury. He'll be back, pardon the pun! I'm going to have a talk with Phoenix Head Coach Dave Tippett about making sure Colonel Klinkhammer gets in the lineups on Saturdays. How else is he going to get mentioned on Sunday Morning Coffee? I had given up prematurely on Ryan Johansen this year. I had previously had him in my keeper league but decided to not hold him for this year.  Boy, I wish I had him back. I had to rub the sleep out of my eyes to make sure I wasn't seeing things. The Predators scored 7 goals last night?  And against the Chicago Blackhawks too?  What is going on here? And Pekka Rinne gave up 5 goals with a Chicago team without the services of Toews and Kane? Can you imagine what the Predators offense will be like when Filip Forsberg is in the lineup every day? It's time to reverse the monikers of "big" and "little" in San Jose. Pavelski was huge this year scoring 41 goals. Kudos!  Now don't pull a Cheecchoo on us.  Just kidding! Three teams that had defensemen lead their team in points (Ottawa, Phoenix, & Nashville) didn't qualify for the playoffs. Detroit's Kronwall is tied with Alfredsson, so they don't count. Edmonton has a lot of work to do still. I think Miller stays in St. Louis beyond this year. Hiller & Halak move on. Nabokov may move on if the Islander's make a move for Halak.  It's hard to say about Brodeur though.  Perhaps a one-year stint in Vancouver if Tortorella is gone. I could see one of those goalies going to Winnipeg. It's a shame really that we only had one 100-point scorer in the NHL this year. I don't think Patrick Roy will let the Avalanche rest just because they made the playoffs. Out of all ...

THE GOALIE EDGE: 4/12/2014 primepucks.com Sat 4/12/14 11:18 AM

ALL GOALIES ARE CONFIRMED UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED AT TIME OF PRINT With most of today's matchups not meaning a whole lot, we will focus on a few that have seeding positioning implications and one classic Canadian rivalry: In the case of Boston, the President's Trophy may be on the line in this matchup against their nemesis Buffalo. Despite the vast disparity in points, the two teams have split their four meetings this season, with the Bruins holding a slight goal advantage (15-12) in those games. In what is their final home "dress rehearsal" before their playoff run, look for the "B's" to snap their two-game skid and enter the postseason on a "high"... With the New York Rangers having nothing to play for, the Montreal Canadiens need this win in a big way. If they can secure the two points tonight behind Carey Price, and the Lightning fall tomorrow, the Hab's will grab home ice for the first round in the playoffs. Huge incentive and a 10-1-1 record in last 12 meetings against the Blueshirts. The Price will be right... Sergei Bobrovsky returns to the net for Columbus, who have an outside shot at 3rd place in the Metropolitan Division with a win over Florida tonight and Philadelphia losing both remaining games. If they can pass Philly, they would avoid Boston and Pittsburgh in the first round of playoffs. Look for "Super Bob" to take care of business in the Sunshine state.. Old-fashioned "grudge match" taking place in the Canadian capital, as the reeling Maple Leafs take on the resilient Ottawa Senators. Toronto has won six straight against the Sens, but the home team is finishing the season on a high note with three consecutive victories. We love Craig Anderson to take this one in a nail-biter...
